15th International Congress of Slavists
Dr. Ljubinko Radenković, senior fellow of the Institute for Balkan Studies, took part in the 15th International Congress of Slavists held in Minsk, Belarus, on 20–27 August 2013. By the number of participants (500–600 Slavists from all relevant educational and scholarly institutions worldwide) and its long tradition (the first congress was held in Prague in 1929), it is the largest scholarly gathering in the Slavic world. It is concerned with issues pertaining to the study of Slavic languages, literatures and cultures, and, during several working days, is organised in at least 15 sections and several round tables. Dr. Radenković presented the contribution “Slavic folk demonology from the synchronic and diachronic perspectives” (published in Zbornik Matice srpske za slavistiku 83 [Novi Sad 1983], 9–23), presided over the section for Slavic folklore, and, in his capacity as chairman of the Commission on Folklore of the International Committee of Slavists, convened a meeting of the Commission and submitted a report on its work.
