The Balkans in European political projects 19th– 21st century
Dušan T. Bataković, director of the Institute for Balkan Studies SASA, and Vojislav Pavlović, research associate of the Institute for Balkan Studies SASA, took part in the international scholarly conference The Balkans in European political projects 19th– 21st century (Балканы в европейских политических проектах XIX-XXI вв.) held in Moscow on 23–25 April 2013. At the conference, organised by the Institute for Slavic Studies of the Russian Academy of Science and bringing together scholars from Russia, Bulgaria, Romania and Serbia, Dr. Bataković presented his paper „Russia, Serbia and the First Balkan War (according to the memoirs of Dimitrije Popović)”, while Dr. Pavlović presented his paper “Two opposing views on the situation in Yugoslavia during the Second World War: the royal Yugoslav government in exile and the CPY”. During the conference the presentation of the volume The Balkans in the Cold War edited by V. Pavlović also took place. This volume, published in English by the Institute for Balkan Studies, is a result of joint research projects carried out by the Institute for Balkan Studies SASA and the Institute for Slavic Studies of the Russian Academy of Science. The directors of the two Institutes, Dr. Bataković and Dr. Nikiforov, took the opportunity to discuss new forms of collaboration. Dr. Bataković also discussed the upgrading of the ongoing collaboration between two Balkan institutes with Dr. A. Kostov, director of the Balkan Institute of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.
