Activities of the bilateral project “What’s in a verb? Mapping Serbian verbs borrowed into Romani”
In October 2024, a series of meetings and a lecture were held at the Institute for Balkan Studies of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts as part of the bilateral project “What’s in a verb? Mapping Serbian verbs borrowed into Romani”. Members of the Serbian team from the Institute for Balkan Studies SASA, Mirjana Mirić, Svetlana Ćirković and Anđela Babić, met with Marko Simonović from the Department of Slavic Studies at the University of Graz. During this occasion, Marko Simonović also presented the first results of the project, in the lecture titled “From konkurisati to konkurišil and from dozidati to dozidol: Morphological adaptation of the Serbian loan verbs in the Kruševac Romani variety”.
The project is financed by the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovations of the Republic of Serbia in cooperation with the Austria’s Agency for Education and Internationalisation (OeAD), within the program of scientific and technological cooperation between the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Austria, for the period 2024–2026.
