Minority Languages in European Societies The international conference “Minority Languages in European Societies” was held at the University of Turin, from July 3 to 6, 2024. Researchers from the Institute for Balkan Studies SASA participated and presented their research conducted within the project “Vulnerable Languages and Linguistic Varieties in Serbia” (VLingS).

Svetlana Ćirković, senior research associate, presented a paper titled “The presence of the Romani language in the linguistic landscape of Serbia: an examination of top-down and bottom-up strategies in implementing minority language rights,” while Mirjana Mirić, senior research associate, and Anđela Redžić, research assistant, presented a paper titled “Language usage trends among linguistic minority communities in Serbia: A comparative analysis“ (co-author: Dušan Vlajić, Faculty of Philosophy, University of Niš).
