Conference in Knjaževac
Organized by the National Library “Njegoš” from Knjaževac and the Serbian Geographical Society from Belgrade, the second Knjaževac Region Conference: Potentials, Status, and Development Perspectives was held in Knjaževac from April 24 to 26, 2024. Mirjana Mirić and Svetlana Ćirković, senior research associates at the Institute for Balkan Studies SASA, were members of the Scientific Committee of the conference.
Additionally, Mirjana Mirić participated in the conference with a paper entitled Students’ attitudes towards Romani language instruction in the Municipality of Knjaževac: a pilot study. As part of the accompanying program of the conference, the two associates also delivered a lecture entitled The Romani Language in Knjaževac: Results of the VLingS Project on Vulnerable Minority Languages. Within this lecture, the results of research conducted within the project Vulnerable Languages and Linguistic Varieties in Serbia (VLingS), funded by the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia, were presented.
