Workshop «Langues d’attestation fragmentaire, objets et méthodes»
Danilo Savić, research assistant at the Institute for Balkan Studies SASA and PhD candidate at the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade and the École Pratique des Hautes Études in Paris, participated in the workshop «Langues d’attestation fragmentaire, objets et méthodes» (“Fragmentarily attested languages, goals and methods”), held at the EPHE on 27 March.
His exposé, entitled «La paire divine messapienne oššo et hazzava» (“The Messapic pair of divinities oššo and hazzava”), dealt with the interpretation of a group of votive inscriptions written in Messapic, a language spoken by Balkan settlers in Southern Italy until the Roman conquest of the region.
The workshop gathered researchers from France, Belgium and Ireland, who discussed various problems in the study of Gaulish, Gothic, Etruscan, and Messapic.
