Linguistic and history workshops of the Institute for Balkan Studies

On Tuesday October 25th two workshоps took place at the library of the Institute for Balkan Studies with international experts on the Balkans, who took part in the round table the day before.

The first workshop was organised by the linguistic department of the Institute for Balkan Studies, dedicated to international collaboration within the framework of different research projects. The guest of the workshop was Petko Hristov, Senior Researcher at the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Studies with Ethnographic Museum of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. In the first part of the workshop, Hristov presented his experience and involvement in COST projects, and the possibility of finding common ground for a joint project, while in the second part, the participants discussed about their field research and experience in the Balkan area, as well as the prospect of interacademic cooperation in the projects of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts.  

The second workshop, by the history department of the Institute for Balkan Studies was initiated with a discussion about the latest publication of professor Luciano Monzali. Prof. Monzali, in collaboration with his colleagues from the University of Bari, has recently published a two-volume history of international relations, covering the period from 1492 to 2021. The author has discussed the book with research associates of the Institute, MA Konstantin Dragaš and Bogdan Živković, and MA Milan Videnović, research associate at the University of Niš.

In the following part of the discussion, the director of the Institute, Vojislav G. Pavlović and senior research associate Dragan Bakić initiated a debate on the methodology of researching history of international relations. The discussion was joined by prof. Monzali and other international guests of the Institute.
