Annual Meeting of the Gypsy Lore Society and Conference on Romani Studies
From 28th to 30th September 2022, the 2022 Annual Meeting of the Gypsy Lore Society and Conference on Romani Studies took place in the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts in Belgrade. The conference was organized by the Gypsy Lore Society and the Board for the study of life and customs of the Roma of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts. The conference has a long tradition and gathers numerous researchers in anthropology, ethnography, history, sociology, linguistics, pedagogy, musicology and other social sciences and humanities, who focus on different aspects of Romani Studies.
Within the panel Romani Language and Romani Linguistics, the researchers of the Institute for Balkan Studies of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts participated with the following papers: Annemarie Sorescu-Marinković, senior research associate, talked about The Linguistic Landscape of Banat Cemeteries: Deciphering Bayash Migration, while Mirjana Mirić, research associate, and Svetlana Ćirković, senior research associate, presented the joint study entitled Word order in the noun phrase in Gurbet Romani in Eastern Serbia: a corpus-based study.
