The international conference “Minority Languages and Multilingualism in Serbia and Central and Eastern Europe”
The international conference “Minority Languages and Multilingualism in Serbia and Central and Eastern Europe” was held at the Open University and in the City Library in Subotica, April, 7-8. 2022.
The first day of the conference was dedicated to minority languages in education, and the second day of the conference to minority literatures in translation and publishing. Within the scientific program, 15 professors and scientists from Serbia, Hungary and Croatia participated, and within the two round tables, 11 participants took part, as representatives of institutions which are engagaed in education in minority languages, translation and publishing, as well as professionals who are distinguished in these areas.
The Serbian academic and internationally known university professor and lawyer, Tibor Várady presented his books of documentary prose, published in Hungarian and Serbian, as the guest of honor.
The conference was moderated by Dr. Marija Mandić, senior research associate at the Institute for Balkan Studies SASA and Prof. Dr Stijn Vervaet, University of Oslo.
The conference was organized by the Institute for Balkan Studies SASA and the University of Oslo, within the international project which is funded by the Norwegian Research Council “Probing the Boundaries of the (Trans)National: Imperial Legacies, Transnational Literary Networks and Multilingualism in East Central Europe”.
