Publication of the book "Autonomy of Kosovo and Metohija in Serbia (1945-1969)" by Igor Vukadinović, PhD
The Institute for Balkan Studies SASA published the book "Autonomy of Kosovo and Metohija in Serbia (1945-1969)" by Igor Vukadinović, PhD a research associate at the Institute for Balkan Studies.
The book traces the history of the autonomy of Kosovo and Metohija, reconstructing the political, social, economic, and cultural processes that occurred in the region from the formation of the first self-governing bodies in the final stages of WWII to the transformation of autonomy and de facto suspension of the Serbian governmental power in that area. The book explains how Josip Broz and the Yugoslav party leadership manipulated Kosovo and Metohija's autonomy to further their ambitions against the Serbian and Yugoslav statehood.
The study relies on unpublished documents from the Archive of Yugoslavia, the Archive of Serbia, the Central State Archive of Albania, the Diplomatic Archive of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, the Archive of Kosovo, and the Archive of Vojvodina, as well as published historical sources, memoirs, and diaries.
