Publication of a thematic collection Towers and Cities
The Serbian Folklore Association and the Institute for Balkan Studies SASA published a thematic collection Towers and Cities [editors Lidija Delić and Snežana Samardžija] dedicated to the memory of Dr. Mirjana Detelić (December 27th 1950 - December 18th 2014), an associate of the Institute for Balkan Studies who, with her spirit and great work, shaped the professional folklore scene from the end of the XX and the beginning of the XXI century.
Sections of the collection were designed according to the scientific work of Dr. Mirjana Detelić and the research areas she focused on: In the depths of language, City built, Locus and numen, From myth to folk, Literary architecture, Animals or epilogue. The collection of papers Towers and Cities is an attempt by editors and authors to use Dr. Mirjana Detelić's studies as a starting point in the study of space, cities, dynamic nature and semantic potential of oral formulas, fiction, literature, and to apply structuralist-semiotic and multidisciplinary approaches in interpretation of art.
