"Days of the Week in Folk Culture of South Slavs and East Slavs" by Dragana Djurić, PhD
The Institute for Balkan Studies of Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts has published a new book in its Special Editions Series: Days of the Week in Folk Culture of South Slavs and East Slavs by Dragana Djurić, PhD, research assistant at the Institute. The monograph provides a comprehensive insight into folk perception of the days of the week among South Slavs and East Slavs. While discussing the question of the origin of the week, the perception of time among Slavic peoples was also tackled. Special attention was paid to the significance of each day in the folk calendar, also in rituals and magical practices among the mentioned groups of Slavic peoples, while the characters of personified days were researched both in folk beliefs and literature.
