Conference meeting 14th International Conference on Romani Linguistics
The 14th International Conference on Romani Linguistics organized by the Institute for Balkan Studies SASA and the Board for the Study of the Life and Customs of the Roma SASA is postponed for 2021. In order to bridge the time gap from 2018 when the 13th conference was held in Paris, the Institute for Balkan Studies organized an online conference meeting on 10th and 11th September 2020. During the meeting, 18 European researchers presented their research concerning phonological, morphological and syntactic levels of Romani, language contact, as well as the studies in interdisciplinary fields such as sociolinguistics, linguistic repertoires, and the history of the Romani language research. Svetlana Ćirković, senior research associate, and Mirjana Mirić, research associate, participated with two co-authored presentations: Serbian Loanwords in Romani-speaking children’s narratives and Balkan features in the Gurbet Romani in Eastern Serbia, which covered the fields of language contact and Balkan linguistics.
