Serbian (Yugoslav) – British Relations from the 19th to 21st Century
As part of celebrating 180 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Republic of Serbia, the international conference entitled ‘Serbian (Yugoslav) – British Relations from the 19th to 21st Century’ was held at the Centre for British Studies of the Faculty of Political Sciences (FPN) in Belgrade on 26-27 January 2018. British diplomats, distinguished scholars from five British universities, three faculties of the University of Belgrade, two institutes from Belgrade and the University of Podgorica participated at the conference, the organization of which has largely been the work of Professor Slobodan Marković, FPN, who is also an external associate of the Institute for Balkan Studies. The members of our institute also presented their papers within the panel devoted to the Anglo-Yugoslav relations in the 20th century. Dr. Vojislav Pavlović, Director of the Institute for Balkan Studies, discussed the essence of those relations after the Second World War during his presentation entitled ‘Communist Yugoslavia and Great Britain’, whereas Dr. Dragan Bakić outlined the main features of Anglo-Yugoslav relations in interwar period in his paper entitled ‘Kingdom of Yugoslavia and Great Britain’.
