Roundtable devoted to the study of the similarities and differences of the occupation system in Serbia and Belgium during the Great War
The Institute for Balkan Studies held a roundtable devoted to the study of the similarities and differences of the occupation system in Serbia and Belgium during the Great War on April 11, 2017. The round table was held by: Prof. Lawrence van Ipersel from the University of Leuven, Dr. Bogdan Trifunović, director of the City library in Čačak, Dr. Ljubinka Škodrić from the Archives of Serbia and Dr. Vojislav Pavlović, deputy director of the Institute for Balkan Studies SASA. The participants of this roundtable found during the exchange of different views and opinions that there are significant similarities in the occupational systems in Serbia and Belgium, but also that research on the civil society under occupation is much more developed in Belgium than in Serbia. The possibility of organizing a European project dedicated to the history of the occupation during the Great War was discussed, in which it would be necessary to include Romanian, Polish and Russian counterparts.
